The Minister took part in the Opening Session and the Plenary Session which discussed two of the thematic areas of the AU-EU partnership; on Peace, Security and Governance, and Multilateralism.
The partnership between the African Union (AU) and the European Union (EU) places peace, security, governance, and multilateralism at the center of its strategic agenda.
The leaders discussed their shared priorities, which included stabilising countries in conflict, reinforcing democratic institutions, and promoting a fairer, rules based on international order. These issues form the backbone of a relationship aimed at supporting the political and developmental aspirations of both continents.
Dr Butale is also scheduled to hold a series of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Summit, exploring opportunities to strengthen cooperation, advance Botswana’s strategic interests, and deepen partnerships within the AU–EU framework.
